Seong Keun Park

Seong Keun Park(b.1997, Korea), based in Seoul, has exhibited at venues including the K Museum of Contemporary Art, Seongnam Arts Center, and Yoojung Art Center. His practice investigates the visual orders produced by human desire and the residual structures that remain in their aftermath. The amorphous black forms that appear in his paintings function both as traces left after desire has been dismantled and as signs that hint at the origins of new forms. By simplifying and reconfiguring symbolic objects constructed through history and society, Park reveals the lingering presence of visual power that continues to operate even after processes of deconstruction. Rather than depicting the fulfillment of desire, his work captures the point at which lack becomes the condition for the persistence of images, visualizing the inescapable structures of human existence as they oscillate between deconstruction and regeneration.
