Shin Jongmin
Shin Jongmin (b.1994, Korea) , on the other hand, explores the interplay between digital identity and physical sculpture. Drawing from game aesthetics, he fuses virtuality with real-world materiality. In his process, silk is wrapped around steel frames and coated with thin layers of cement, pushing the boundaries of material expression. He incorporates “low-polygon” graphics—a technique from 3D modeling—into sculptural compositions that mutate and evolve depending on how they are combined and situated. In this exhibition, he pushes this further: by deliberately juxtaposing sculptural forms with mismatched or conflicting digital images, he generates unexpected visual ruptures. His works grow singly or multiply, drawing viewers into unfamiliar narrative territories—as though they’ve stepped into a glitch in a virtual world.
