Jung Won Phee

The ‘Untitled: Black Path’ series of the artist's works consist of a black background, symbolic figures, deep and shallow cracks and bends, and numerous layers. Its goal is to achieve the most fundamental, primitive, and pure abstraction possible, with an emphasis on abstract expressionism and minimalism. The black background of the work represents his personal meaning and the direct visual act that closes the audience’s eyes at the same time. The artist uses the method of watching the abstract work, as if the audience were imagining themselves, watching the work, which, of course, also applies to the watching of his work as well.
